Preliminary Round Rules

Open to everyone . This is a Free online event!

Yoyo players must be using any Duncan Yo-yo or Gatesyoyo with a fixed axle. No other brands or ballbearing yoyos will be permitted at this time. Players may adjust yoyos to fit their play preferences.

Players must record video of themselves doing the first 10 tricks in the official Duncan Yo-Yolimpics instruction sheet and share the video on Instagram, Facebook or YouTube with the 3 hashtags #gatesyoyo #duncanyoyos#yoyolimpics

Videos must be under 1 min and need to be in 1 take, 1 video per contestant, no edit or speed adjustments permitted.

Any profane audio of video will be immediately disqualified.

Players may interpret the tricks in their own way. Get creative!

Bonus points for originality and entertainment value.

Registration will be open from March 1st to March 14th 2026.

Judgment and final decisions will be made by 2020 National Yoyo Hall of Fame Inductee Jon Gates of Gatesyoyo. March 21 will be the end of the 1st round and announcements for who made it into the next round will follow shortly after.

Gates yoyo and Duncan yoyos are donating amazing prizes and awards. *Any winners outside of the continental United States will be asked to pay any additional shipping cost to receive prizes.
